Behringer U-phoria UM2 Pros and Cons
Pros: One customer said it is great to use this interface with an Audio Technica AT2020 for voice overs and music recording. It is compatible with Windows 8, 8.1, 8.1 Update 1, and you can use the 64-Bit USB Audio Driver on the Behringer page. It is also compatible with Mac OS X 10.8 and OS X 10.9. It has everything you need because it includes direct instrument input and microphone input with phantom power for condenser mics. He uses it to record direct-in to Reaper with guitars and bass and run it while recording keyboard synths with my Arturia Laboratory MIDI controller.
If you're new to find an audio interface, this one fits your budget with a low price. The sound is crisp and clear. It is tiny and portable so you can take this anywhere with you. Behringer is plastic-made, so you need extra care. While he is playing the guitar, the background noise dictated by the amp and FX simulators. There is no background noise detected while playing synthesizers through the MIDI controller. The U-Phoria UM2 model will work with Pro Tools as well.
Cons: Behringer is lighter and made of plastic that won't stand up half of the abuse. Recommended as a piece of hardware for an in-home studio. The software does not come with the package, so you have to download the driver only from Behringer's website. You may experience inconvenience since a customer had an issue setting it up because his Window system kept overriding Behringer's ASIO4ALL settings. Pro Tools would not recognize the settings or new configurations, even though he kept changing them. He eventually contacted Avid and had a remote session with the tech, who also took over an hour to figure it out.

If you don't need multiple channels, Behringer is for you. The audio interface is lightweight and made of plastic. It is very portable so it is not a problem if you are on the go.
